ParkBlue Successfully Launched in Ohio and Indiana by TIBA Parking Systems, Enabling a Frictionless Parking Experience

TIBA Parking Systems’ Bluetooth technology (BLE), ParkBlue, was successfully implemented in Ohio and Indiana for monthly transients at multiple sites.

Since July, hundreds of monthly users have utilized the first ParkBlue garages installed by Signature Control Systems, in partnership with TIBA Parking Systems and Hertz Investment Group.

Monthly parkers at these locations now have the ability to gain frictionless access to the garage using their branded mobile app. As the driver approaches the entry and exit devices, the gate detects the mobile device and allows the parker into the garage by using the phone as the credential. Drivers can also access a secondary QR code by manually tapping their ParkBlue application on their phone if needed.

This not only offers convenience to the parker who no longer has to roll down their window and present an access credential, but also offers convenience to the owner and operator who does not have to purchase and distribute expensive access credentials which are continuously lost and transferred amongst other users.

This Bluetooth solution has also increased the throughput of the facility as less time is required in the lane to manually authenticate the driver.

Operators can benefit from the ease of dialing-in the sensor range of the ParkBlue device through the software so as not to detect other users in adjacent lanes or in the same vehicle.

TIBA Ticketless PARC Solution: Transport for NSW, Australia

THE CHALLENGE

The public transportation department of Sydney Australia, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), identified a need to free up parking spaces for commuters across their network of train and bus stations. To do this in a seamless manner that would not disrupt the customer experience, they decided to deliver a ticketless solution for entry and exit to their Park & Ride parking lots. To confirm that each parking customer has traveled on public transport, there was also a requirement to integrate with TfNSW’s smartcard ticket system – Opal card.

TfNSW, together with Wilson Parking, chose TIBA Parking Solutions to deliver this cutting-edge technology.

HOW IT WORKS

The Customer

To qualify for free Transport Park & Ride parking, the parking customer must:

• Be the holder of a valid Opal card
• Park in a dedicated Transport Park & Ride parking facility
• Tap on and tap off with their Opal card to complete a trip on public transport
• Use the same Opal card to tap out of the parking lot

The System

In order to deliver this customer experience, the TIBA ticketless system does the following:

• Parking location and space availability is displayed from an integrated LED sign to attract commuter parkers.
• On entry, TIBA’s license plate recognition (LPR) system reads each vehicle’s number plate to provide access, there is no need for the driver to stop and take a ticket. The process takes less than 2 seconds and is seamless to the driver.
• On exit, the LPR system matches the number plate to the vehicle’s entry time and calculates the applicable parking fee. If the customer has taken a valid trip on public transport using their Opal card, they simply tap their Opal card on the integrated reader and free exit is provided.
• Parking customers that have stayed longer than 20 minutes and have not used public transport simply pay the applicable fee with their credit card on the integrated readers at the exit. A contactless credit card reader is available to provide a “Tap & Go” experience for both commuter and non-commuter parking customers.
• Each TIBA Park & Ride location is managed with TIBA SPARK. This cloud-based management system provides remote control over single or multiple locations through a user-friendly graphical interface to monitor system status as well as remotely issuing tickets and/or opening barrier gates.

TRANSPORT PARK & RIDE LOCATIONS

TfNSW is running the Park & Ride solution as a trial at selected locations, that have been identified through surveying as key areas to increase commuter parking availability.

• Ashfield Park & Ride is located approximately 11km to the west of Sydney’s central business district (CBD) and provides over 230 dedicated commuter bays with 2 entry lanes and 2 exit lanes.
• Kogarah Park & Ride is located approximately 18km to the south of Sydney’s CBD and provides over 250 dedicated commuter bays with 1 entry lane and 1 exit lane.
• Seven Hills Park & Ride is located approximately 35km to the northwest of Sydney’s CBD and provides over 1,500 dedicated commuter bays across 2 sections comprising of 2 entry lanes and 4 exit lanes.

THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORT PARK & RIDE

TIBA’s world class technology in the pilot locations has brought a new ease of use for TfNSW parking customers. The management of each parking facility through TIBA’s SPARK system means that control of each location is fully scalable.

TfNSW manages nearly 600 million annual trips across their transport system. Their network of stations is serviced by nearly 400 parking stations.

Following a successful pilot program, the intention is to roll-out this ticketless solution to each of their networks ‘high-demand’ locations on a systematic basis.

TIBA’s SPARK Cloud Solution Manages Mixed Use Parking Facilities in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 19, 2018) – Kansas City, Missouri selected TIBA Parking Systems’ cloud-based management and control platform, SPARK, to drive eight mixed-use facility garages. The facilities are installed in and around the KC Live and Convention Center districts and total 42 lanes.

 

The city launched the project in June of 2017 and with the help of Fisher Parking & Security, a TIBA Value Added Reseller, it has been successfully deployed for six months.

 

“The equipment is consistent and reliable. We monitor it closely via SPARK and we have consistently been able to process tickets with over a 99% read rate. The systems were built with automation in mind,” stated Matthew Muckenthaler, Towne Park Senior Account Manager. “Our revenues have increased dramatically because we can keep the gates down and equipment functional.”

 

SPARK, TIBA’s cloud hosted solution, allows operators and owners to manage multiple garages effectively. TIBA Opens Direct Office in California to be Led by Malloy Pohrer

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 17, 2018) – TIBA Parking Systems is launching a local office in California to serve Los Angeles and San Francisco.

This TIBA initiative will be spearheaded by Malloy Pohrer as the General Manager of TIBA in California. Pohrer joins TIBA with 25 years of executive level experience in the parking industry.

Prior to joining TIBA, Pohrer managed all California business activity as Vice President with Amano McGann.

Pohrer began his career in the parking industry in 1993 as a sales engineer with Amano Cincinnati in Atlanta. He then moved into operations as a Branch Manager and later became Vice-President at McGann Associates where he was responsible for the startup of multiple branch locations. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice President of Branch Operations and oversaw the day-to-day business operations of all 21 branches in the US.  Pohrer was subsequently promoted again to the position of Sr. Vice President of Business Operations.

TIBA ParkBlue to Change Traditional Access Control and Parking

TIBA Parking Systems is changing the traditional way of access control and parking in the industry with the worldwide release of ParkBlue.

He previously served as the General Manager for Central Parking System for 18 years, with an additional 3 years at System Parking/ABM. During this time, Mollish was responsible for growing major markets in the Eastern and Midwestern United States.

Prior to joining TIBA, Mollish led the Sales of Branch Operations for the lower Midwest market at Amano McGann. During his 5+ years with Amano McGann, he was responsible for sales and contract management and was successful at growing the market by winning several large projects for the company.
